Lost – Season 5, Episode 15
i can't believe they actually considered last week's crap a numbered episode. This will get confusing on the DVD, because that will be a bonus feature and not part of the numbered series. so on the dvd, this post is about episode 14 and all future posts of this nature are episode number - 1. anyways, big danny faraday (don't call him that) came back last week, and in the blurb for what happens this week he will be talking about what he knows about the island. i am excited for that, but i won't get my hopes up. he'll probably talk about record players again or some other dinosaur technology that no one will understand. the island is like a bag-phone. you know, how you have to lug that crappy bag around just to do anything? you guys are the bag, and the island is bored of you. and stuff.
the part that is constantly about spoilers.
– There wasn't any blood when Des was shot, just milk. Now he's in a hospital? Hm.
– Really? That's the soundtrack they choose for when Mrs Hawking reveals the thing we've known for awhile? "Desmond lived on an island" BUMMMMMMMMMBBBUMMMMM
– Oh snap. Destiny may be wrong after all this... I don't know who or what to believe right now. I thought they had been showing us for awhile that Locke was right and destiny wins. But maybe Locke was wrong and Jack/choice wins...
– Daniel flashbacks, this could be amazing... or it could make me not like him anymore. But, I doubt that.
– If this were made years and years ago, I'd say this was the same kid from Hook. His voice is similar.
– Is this a repeat of the first part of the season, or was the first part of the season in the ACTUAL 70s, and now Dan is recreating it so that it's the same now as it was then?
– "I'm From the Future" shouldn't be a big thing. They are trying to make time travel, someone from the future shows up, end of story. Don't make it a big deal, please.
– Hahaha, awesome Dan. Way to really turn this thing on its head. Amazing.
– These commercial cliffhangers are pretty weak this episode. Why it the fact that Dan's Mom is an other a shock. Or that she can get them "back" where they need to be? We already know she's an other and we've already seen her get them to the 1970's. Why should we go "OOOH!" that she is important and smart and key player in this? I feel like they think we're stupid.
– Whoa, forgot all about Dan crying during this news.
– Haha, Fonzie times.
– Bleck, this Charlotte kid's voice is gross.
– During this gun fight, I'm wondering...Back in season 2 or so, they had that website with Joop the monkey, which was a Dharma thing. We should have seen Joop during the 70's.
– This whiny, forgetful Dan is pretty annoying.
– Well, this is good. The rest of the season will be unexpected and different from this 1970's, safe living thing.
– Variables. Interesting.
– See, THAT'S where you put a cliifhanger commercial. Whidmore is Daniel's dad. Awesome. Dan and Penny are brother and sister, Des is Dan's brother in law. More interconnectedness, more better-ness.
– Right there, how can that not be a big old time loop? Mrs Hawkings KNEW that she would shoot/kill Daniel in the 1970s. So, in the future, when he's older, she sends him to the island so that he can help do research. Then the wheel will turn, and he'll be in the 1970s. Then he'll meet his mother and she will shoot him. He will say, You knew this would happen and you sent me here anyways. She thinks about that. She had a kid, names him Daniel. Raises him to do math instead of music, sends him to the island. He does research. The wheel turns. She shoots him in the 1970's. I mean...how do you get out of that?

it is 86 degrees here, and i'm not a very huge fan of that.
this morning i walked down the street to the local branch of the public library. it is a fairly small space, smaller than the public library i worked at during high school. but they have a shelf of "graphic novels" and about 5 shelves of manga. i noticed they had 7 volumes of Nausicaa. i'll probably get those eventually. i checked out skim and phoenix. now that i have looked it up online, i see that this is the second part of phoenix. guess i'll have to go back and see if they have the rest. but from what i understand it is 12 stand alone stories that only loosely link together, so maybe i'll just read these and see if it makes sense. it shouldn't take much more to read all of tezuka's comics. black jack will probably be next.
also picked up a box fan from the home depot. looking at them, i felt like i was in the college dorms again.
the rest of the day is wide open. i read some of skim, it's pretty good so far and the drawings are beautiful. i'd like to go see the class, but maybe i'll save it for tomorrow. i have to take the g to the f, in order to see it, and the terminal where you switch is also the stop for my comic shop. so i think i can kill two birds with one stone tomorrow. watch the movie, then buy comics on the way home. free money from tax payers is really something else.
i'd also really like to go to the MoMa. supposedly some awesome drawings up there. maybe that can fit in to thursday or something. it looks like it won't be 80 any more after today, so i'd really like to use the cooler days to do things and hide inside during the heated ones.
the seventh episode of breaking bad ended on an interesting point, and i was concerned that they were doing another 7 episode season. so i looked it up on the wiki to see. turns out they are doing 14 this year, but they are also already signed on for 14 more next year. i wish that wasn't in the wiki, because now i'm not as worried for the characters. if there were only 7 left, i would be really worried about the dea + walt + walt's family. but at this point, it's like... they'll at least be ok for 21 more hours, i guess. kind of killed the suspense.
also, i think that Sit Down, Shut Up could become better than Arrested Development. the fact that it is animated gives the team a lot of opportunity for visual gags, and if you add that to the already arrested-style writing... you win.

Lost – Season 5, Episode 14
The Story of the Oceanic 6 does nothing for me as a title. It makes me really really bored, in fact. The Oceanic 6 suck. Haven't we learned enough about them? We are on to the '70s here, so what does it matter anymore. They came back. Almost all of their events have been shown to us.
the spoilers of the oceanic 6
– Wait, is this a recap episode?
– Nevermind, this is ANOTHER week that Lost decides to not air a new episode. I was pretty sure that when they announced the end date, they would do a mini-season with no breaks. Now we've had two. Way to ruin my morning, Lost. I hate you right now.

breaking bad, season 2
i started season 2 of breaking bad today, after finishing my re-watching of season 1.
um.
normally on a show, when you are on the first episode of a season, and you know there are at least 6 more to go (season 1 was 7 episodes, not sure if this one is too), you don't really worry about imminent danger put on the main characters. you figure, this will work it self out next week and nothing will be different.
but i am completely worried, only 1 episode in. everything seems way too closely knit in this small town to be bringing drugs and drug dealers into the mix. i'm completely gripped. i don't want anything bad to happen, but i really think something terrible will...
i had to get out my worry. now on to the second episode.

asimo learns.
so they have taught asimo to understand how humans see. this seems both interesting and limiting all at once. i guess teaching it to see like a human is a good starting step, but what about seeing it NOT like a human? what about seeing beyond the visual spectrum? seeing things that we can't even understand how to see. things our brain just filters out based on not knowing how to render them in our eyes. see time. see sounds. see germs.

Thursday, unemployed.
1. Brooklyn Brewery #2 is the best thing I've ever drank.
2. A bird shit on my coat. Never sit outside.
3. My comic store is selling Farel Dalrymple original inks and watercolors for $400/$500, and I want every one of them. Bad.

Lost – Season 5, Episode 13
Some Like it Hoth. It seems like a funny Star Wars reference but I'm fairly certain it is a cute way of hiding that fact that this episode is about Thoth, and maybe some of the egyptian mythology of this show. Here's hoping.
some like it spoiled
– Young Miles?
– Kid looks like miles, so that's a good casting.
– The ditch had a gun.
– The deal was no questions asked, and so of course Miles asked questions. And also is going to talk to the dead guy...
– I wonder how Miles' abilities work. Can he hear all the dead Dharma people? All the dead previous island inhabitants? The dead possible Egyptians?
– There's a Honda commercial on the ABC player where they are treating the rumble strips on the side of the road as data files and are attempting to plan out the bumps so that when you drive over them, they play the William Tell Overture instead of the "brrrrrrrrrrrrrrmmmmmmm" noises. This is pretty awesome. I haven't "click to continue"d and I won't while they keep showing these making of videos. Very interesting.
– That was cool. It didn't sound like the song, but still.
– Hah, teen/punk Miles with an upside down "1" on his hoodie. Cool dude. With a name like Miles Straum, I bet he was in a band.
– Your dad has been dead "a long time"... How long, I wonder? Thousands of years? And his body is on the island? Miles has been playing it cool and calm for a really long time if he's hear to learn about his dead dad. Hasn't mentioned it or tried to break away to find it, or anything...
– Whoa. The Dharma school logo is cool too. I hope they release official versions of all these at some point.
– What is Miles doing? He knows its the dead guy. You can't let Hurley into that circle of trust...
– Awesome magnetic forces! Unprotected Swan station.
– That's a good point, Hurley. The dead people connection is pretty interesting.
– That's it? That's $500? "Yeah, your son loved you." Bang, pay me.
– I could kick a football over them mountains.
– Do we get to see Daniel here?
– I imagine that the "Turd Weigher" Dharma logo has got to be amazing.
– Glad they finally went out and said that Hallowax is Miles' dad. But...I dunno. Miles is meeting his dad before Miles is like a year old (or born yet? I can't remember when the flashback from earlier this year of him being born was...). How...oh, my nose is bleeding.
– Bummer, ABC minimizes the screen when you pause. I wanted to read what Jack was cleaning off the board...which was about Egypt.
– Wasn't there a guy in the loony-bin with Hurley that told him those numbers? Did he ever turn out to be anyone?
– Who are these Shadow seeker people? A third faction of island hunters? Ben's people? 3.2 Million.
– Hahahahaha. Please tell me that Hurley wrote Empire.
– What a hilarious plot line for Hurley.
– So I guess this episode isn't about Egptians at all. It's actually about Hoth. They teach you, over 4 previous seasons, to think about these show titles. And then they go and just make this one about Hoth? I like it, but I'm allowed to be bummed, right?
– Hahahah. Star Wars and Lost. This show is amazing. Ewoks suck, dude.
– YES! Daniel is back. I can't wait for the episode with him. Yes yes yes.

even quawesomer
i measured the keys of the keyboard. i measured the little slopes on the tops and sides. i measured the gaps inbetween keys. i put that all together. then when i added the side keys (return, shift, caps, delete, etc) nothing fit any more. wtf. i measured again. looked at my file, every thing was the same. why aren't they lining up!? so i fudged it a little. whatever. this is still only step 1 of what i want to do with it. maybe i'll still like it after step 2?

Lost – Season 5, Episode 12
Dead is dead, an episode with Locke & the present day Ajira crash survivors. I am glad I don't get to see the previews for these, because I heard this one deals with some interesting things which I want to be surprises.
spoils of war
– I'd like to be the "Previously on..." voice for a show one day in the future.
– Let's say you crashed on to an island, and a guy was walking around saying he had been killed, and then he shows you the man that killed him that was also on the plane. That'd be weird right?
– Is that Charles Whidmore?
– Charles is higher up than the ageless Richard? That seems bizarre.
– I bet there's a deleted scene where Ben shits in his pants right here. Lots and lots.
– "We don't even have a word for it", but on the secret map on the secret door accessed by the secret button in the Swan station, it is called "Cerberus". Also it is pure smoke, why wouldn't they call it Smokey? Or Smokington? Or Cancerman?
– Oh Ben...this is nasty trickery. Getting Locke killed a second time?
– Hm. Tell me more about these whispers.
– Written by BKV! Always a good sign for a good episode.
– Believable argument on killing Locke. That's what we saw. Could Ben not be a lier, in fact?
– Oh man. Are we gonna get to see this judging?
– What? Really? That was Caesar's purpose? He was this mysterious figure and he's only there to slightly stop them from taking the boat, and then get blasted apart? Sure, Ben just lived through being shot by a professional assassin, so maybe anything can happen? Buck shot doesn't really tear apart your innards or anything. It wasn't made to do that at all.
– Was that a young Mr. Friendly next to Richard?
– This is going to be Sun or someone in the room, not Alex...oooh, Risk.
– Hahahaha. God it would be weird to be Sun or Frank right now. They haven't seen a lot of the strangeness that the other characters have...so an undead John Locke would be earth shattering.
– The magic box? They had better show this. After all this time..
– So it was a toilet.
– I wonder if John and Christian can be in the same place together. They seem like they are part of the same island magics, so I wonder if they would interfere with each other.
– Temple stuff too? Let's go all out this week, Lost.
– I take it Frank went back?
– There have been a lot of interesting Ben flashbacks. Oh, well here's the one I was just about to ask about. Penny and Desmond beating him up at the marina?
– "Our Mutual Friend" is the boat name?
– Ben shouldn't remember this temple. He can't remember his friends in the Dharma initiative..unless someone told him that he was healed here.
– I hope the temple itself is the magic box. Some sort of time travelling machine. Or a holy grail. Or the number 42. All these things layered together into some sort of shifting something that we don't understand.
– Didn't look like the bullet went in to Des at all...He had lead groceries.
– Here comes Des, right?
– Nice.
– According to this commercial, ABC is trying another Cops in NY with 70's moustaches show, only this time it doesn't look like it has time travel...instead it has...a guy getting killed by the F train? The Unusuals? Will they be like the BPRD and fight monsters and bust ghosts and things? When they had to cancel Life on Mars, they figured this was the perfect follow-up move? Well...it stars Micheal, so maybe I'll check it out. (ABC commercial break)
– Hm. This girl character has all of the sudden become mysterious and interesting. What lies in the shadow of the statue?
– Just because Ben is going alone doesn't mean they don't have to show this to us.
– Will wait for the HD screen cap of those hieroglyphs to be translated.
– This is kind of nuts. It's like Harry Potter.
– Ghost Alex rules!
– So smokey can show you your memories and then manifest them and make them threaten you...or kill you. Is there another vent for this monster to come from? Cause they just accidentally fell through the floor into its' room...
– Weakest cliffhanger yet.

Lost – Season 5, Episode 11
So this is "whatever happened, happened" -- a very leading title. fingers crossed that things happen. looks like it's a kate episode, but i wish it was about daniel...
hey look, spoilers
– Hey, you could almost hear what Sawyer said in the helicopter. something about remembering...something about the alamo? its basement?
– Why is that necklace thing from years ago finally important?
– Aw man. Kid ben didn't die. What a cop out.
– Was that guy with a beard the young mr. friendly?
– Yeahh...Ben's Dad and Kate. The love triangle becomes a love...octagon.
– who cares about Kate? Sheesh. I'm bored already.
– No way that's Aaron. This is another kid she has raised...
– Oh. Nevermind.
– Ohhhh. Hm. This could be an interesting flashback after all.
– Sawyer's baby mama sucks. Get her off the screen.
– Back to the island. Thank jacob.
– Miles seems chilled out a bit. That's great. Almost likable.
– Miles with the 3-point shoot/perfect explanation of everything. Hooray Miles.
– The slatted window reflecting the grass made for a really cool shot.
– YES! Jack finally realizes he was in the way. That's amazing. I bet that's why he drank non-stop. Also: He's become a little baby about Kate.
– Haha, Roger Linus thinks he's in.
– Ben isn't going to die. They said it. Why waste an episode of suspense saying he may? This is just like the last time he was in the hospital.
– Hahaha. Awesome awesome time travel discussion ends with Hurley being smug. I love this so far...except for any part with Kate.
– Nice 5th Element-style bandage bra, Ben. Haw Haw!
– C'mon Lost - That was the perfect time to have the grocery stock boy be someone from the island or that new guy that was just on the plane earlier this year. Etc.
– Ew...That's like the melted version of Claire..
– Ben's glasses are taped up the exact same was that the moving guy's were when I helped Brantley move the other day. LOST!
– They didn't show us how Kate and Sawyer's girl became friends. That better not mean we'll get ANOTHER Kate flashback later this year where we see that major bit of info!
– Jack sucks. Kate sucks. Krypton sucks.
– This is the last stretch of this episode. Something that happened had better happen soon.
– Claire isn't really alive, right? Quit lying, Kate.
– 11 episodes into this year just to tell us why Kate is going back, and show how uninteresting her whole off island/Aaron storyline is. There's no mystery or supernatural here. It's just regular. Lost doesn't need regular. Snore. Aaron was supposed to be this awful, world ending thing, and he's just a boring plot device for boring Kate. Bye bye baby.
– He'll never be the same again? They are going to let smokey get the bullet out and fix the wound? Show this part! Not the Kate parts!
– Oh...maybe that'll be the cliffhanger. The temple.
– GAH! Don't waste 40 minutes on Kate ever again, pleasssseeeee.
– Oh shit. Ben should be freaked right now! The awesome dude he killed is here alive. Hahahaha!
– Well. Interesting ending. Not a twist. Hopefully that means no more Kate episodes til next year.
